On his website, Com Truise describes his music as “fragments (read: DNA strands) of Joy Division, New Order, and the Cocteau Twins, but […] like you’re hearing them through the motherboard of a waterlogged Xbox—demented and modern”. When I first heard Galactic Melt, I more pictured it as the musical lovechild of Kavinsky and Boards of Canada.

But whatever way you look at it, Galactic Melt is a super album; full of nostalgia-inducing, IDM-influenced synthwave (whatever that is). Com Truise, aka Seth Haley, has been producing and DJing under different guises for almost a decade, and that experience definitely shines through in his debut LP under this name, released on the consistently decent Ghostly International. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
